The Old Republic Working On Bad Luck Protection

First to a single raid.

Bad luck protection sounds like a good idea on paper, but in practice? It’s also probably a good idea. There’s nothing quite like completing a thousand runs of a boss fight and still not receiving that boss’ exclusive, untradeable pet. Am I right, RuneScape players?

Star Wars: The Old Republic is working on adding bad luck protection in an upcoming patch and the way it works is pretty simple. I’ll let them explain;

Our Bad Luck Prevention system allows us to track the rewards obtained from boss drops or chests and gives us the ability to modify drop chances based on how many times players didn’t receive the protected items.

The rollout is evidently going to be slow, first coming to the Relentless Replication Lair Boss where players will be guaranteed an augment schematic if they don’t find one within 12 runs of the Story Mode or 7 runs of the Veteran Mode.

The Relentless Replication addition is a test run, so feedback from players can be gathered before it is rolled out to more parts of the game. So if you have some thoughts on bad luck protection, you’d better start playing so you can add your two cents in.

Update hits with patch 7.6d.
