Jagex Announces Departure of CEO Phil Mansell

To be replaced by Jon Bellamy.

After fourteen years of being part of Jagex, chief executive officer Phil Mansell announced this week that he is leaving the UK developer of RuneScape and RuneScape accessories. Taking his place as chief nextecutive officer is Jon Bellamy who we have been told has in fact played RuneScape for over 20 years and has maxed out his RuneScape 3  account and almost maxed out his Old School RuneScape account.

Phil has been CEO since the departure of Rod Cousens in 2017. Jon Bellamy is quoted as saying;

“It’s a great honour to assume the leadership of Jagex and to help steward a game franchise that means so much to so many millions, myself included. I am also excited to get to work with the outstanding team, whom I know well from my time on the Board, to ensure our games continue to be the best in the world. I plan to spend some time now with the team, reviewing our ambitions for Jagex, and plan to communicate my broader vision to the RuneScape community in the near-term.”

What does this mean for RuneScape? We’ll have to keep watching to find out. Hopefully no more poorly planned surveys.
