The best of the best of the best, sir.
Should high-roller dungeons be for the hardcore only? Ironmace thinks so. In a recent update posted to the official Discord, the folks at Ironmace announced a change in the game’s vision.
High-roller dungeons are what they sound like, top-tier dungeons meant for top-tier players. They feature much harder monsters as PvE enemies and also offer top-tier loot in return for the extra danger, cost an entry fee, and require your character to be level 20.
But while prior updates have balanced these dungeons to make them more accessible to all players as the de facto endgame, Ironmace announced that is no longer the goal. With upcoming updates, High-roller dungeons will become more of a playground for the hardcore players.
Our goal for High-rollers is no longer broad appeal or high participation, but a return to a true hardcore playground that serves as a high-end test for only the strongest willed players and parties. We believe that the original versions of DaD with the dark swarm circles and random portals are more aligned with this vision, and we will be testing the return of that system for the HR dungeons.
How is this being accomplished? Well there’s more updates to come. In today’s update however for high-roller dungeons the devs removed fog of war, randomized portals, added Dark Swarm, and deactivated some fixed escape/down props.
Dark Swarm is the equivalent of the storm in other battle royale/extraction games, that slowly closes in and forces players into smaller areas.
Players are also now able to see their ban/report data for cheaters, giving feedback when someone is caught and removed from the game.
