If you’ve been following this website you’re well aware that Steam has played host to malware multiple times and you may have wondered why authorities haven’t gotten involved yet. Well, they have.
The American Federal Bureau of Investigation has launched a criminal investigation into the developers of several games including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse / DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova. Titles that were found to have malware hidden on them and installed on user computers via Steam going back several years.
The FBI’s Seattle Division is seeking to identify potential victims installing Steam games embedded with malware.
The FBI believes the threat actor primarily targeted users between the timeframe of May 2024 and January 2026. In the investigation, several games have been identified to include, BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse / DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova.
User who were affected by the malware are encouraged to fill out a short form or submit inquiries to Steam_Malware@fbi.gov.
