June 30 to be exact.
Remember The Elder Scrolls: Blades? The mobile spinoff that launched in 2020 and most of you probably immediately forgot about over Covid lockdown. It was exactly what you’d expect out of a mobile spinoff of The Elder Scrolls; shoddy controls, simplistic gameplay, and a heavy leaning on monetization to make up for the systems purposely stunted to promote the game’s monetization.
In a move that will elicit more “I’m surprised it survived this long” reactions than “I’m surprised it’s shutting down,” Bethesda announced this week that the game is indeed shutting down. Blades is already delisted from online stores (it also launched on Switch) and the game will be going offline on June 30.
Until then players can enjoy a bundle of cash shop currency and everything on the store being discounted to the absolute minimum. What’s next for Bethesda? We’re going to guess shutting down The Elder Scrolls: Castles, the developer’s attempt to recreate Fallout Shelter with Elder Scrolls that launched in 2024 and has had basically zero fanfare since.
