In a battle for the history books.
October 6 is German-American day, when we commemorate the founding of Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1683. It also marks the start of a 14 hour long battle in Eve Online that has set PvP records. Two of the largest alliances in Eve Online also known as PAPI and the Imperium waged war over a Keepstar in Delve.
The battle involved a record 8,825 players (previous record 7,548) and a peak concurrent unique character count of 6,557 players (previous record 6,142). 6,746 ships were destroyed of which 362 were capital class, 8,825 players with 11,258 characters from 114 different alliances participated in the battle, and a total of 1.443 trillion ISK ($18,712 USD) was lost with PAPI’s Keepstar being destroyed.
Both sides had reason to celebrate as Imperium prevented PAPI from invading its territory any further and PAPI thinned out the Imperium high-value ships.
