I think this might be a big release.
Cyberpunk 2077 is the indie breakout hit of the year that nobody saw coming, least of all you. Having launched on PC, consoles, and something called Stadia, Cyberpunk 2077 looks like it’s on a path to break some records. While Cyberpunk is available on PC on both Steam and Good Old Games, Steam does make it possible to see concurrent player numbers.
There are over one million people playing on Steam alone. That of course doesn’t factor in GOG, PlayStation, Xbox, or that Stadia thing. One million players. I’m neither an economist or a dairy farmer, but that sounds like a lot of cheddar.
The sales numbers make sense. Over at Amazon Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 is the #2 best seller just below PlayStation cash cards and above Xbox cash cards. It also takes the #12 spot on Xbox One and #95 on PC, which is pretty impressive when you consider that nobody buys physical PC games anymore.
