NM: Cyberpunk Delay Spurs Death Threats

BECAUSE OF COURSE IT DID!

I have a few general “constants” when it comes to using the internet and one of those is that if a tree falls in the woods and at least one person hears it, that tree is guaranteed to receive death threats. Death threats have become something ubiquitous on the net owing to a general reluctance by law enforcement to do anything until the cops murder an innocent person, an inability to figure out the lanky basement dweller sending them and visit them for a trash-can beating, and the ease with which platform holders allow people to create accounts letting anyone create alts for that purpose.

So while the notion should still astound and horrify people, the fact that CD Projekt Red employees are receiving death threats from the mentally unhinged losers typing frantically on their keyboards instead of taking their brain medication isn’t all that surprising. Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed until December 10 and Andrzej Zadadzki would be much obliged if people would stop sending death threats to the developers. You know, those guys who had nothing to do with the decision to delay the game.

Once again this is a great reminder of how mental illness has gone widely untreated and unrecognized, and yes sending death threats over a video game delay is a clear sign of mental illness. MMO Fallout hopes that those sending these death threats seek the mental help that they very clearly require. Acknowledgment is the first step on the road to recovery.
