Only 10% of Steam buyers actually approve of the game.
The remake of XIII is out and the Steam community’s response so far has been “thanks, I hate it.” As of this publishing the XIII remake currently holds a 10% positive rating on Steam with 39 upvotes versus 347 downvotes.
Most of the complaints stem from bad animations, broken physics, horrible audio mixing, the change in visual style, nearly nonfunctional AI, bad weapon feel, the controls, the lack of the original game’s comic book aesthetic, the removal of hand-drawn cutscenes, weapon carry limits, the weapon wheel, and the complete gutting of the multiplayer mode into what it is now with no bots and less maps.
All in all XIII feels like a cheap and lazy remake that newly-minted developer PlayMagic cobbled together for a quick buck. Not only is it not an upgrade, in many ways it is a downgrade from the original game that released 17 years ago. For a more detailed review, check out the review by GmanLives.
