TERA Joins the Fight Against Breast Cancer

En Masse Entertainment has unveiled the Pink Power Bundle, a limited promotion in TERA to help spread breast cancer awareness. The bundle is only available until November 1, and contains a small handful of goods to show off your charitable ways.

TERA’s Pink Power Bundle sells for $14.95, with 100% net proceeds going toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

  • Pink Pinions —A pair of rare, translucent-pink wings that emit hearts to show off your caring spirit.
  • Pink Wreath —A crown of pink flowers.
  • Pink Brow Glasses—High-end eyewear for the caring soul.

“According to Breast Cancer.Org, there are more than 3.1 million survivors with breast cancer history, and 40,000 women are expected to die in 2017 from breast cancer,” said Matt Denomme, Senior Product Manager at En Masse Entertainment. “We’ve got a chance to help bring those numbers down by spreading awareness through our TERA community, as well as contributing proceeds from our Pink Power Bundle to one of the many charities in need. We hope our small part will help these statistics change for the better and fight this awful disease.”

Adopt A Cat In RuneScape To Support World Wildlife Fund

RS_news_large_WWF_Cats

RuneScape players have another opportunity to donate to charity. Jagex has partnered with the World Wildlife Fund to spread awareness of endangered animals, specifically the endangered big cats. For the next two weeks, players are invited to take part in daily quizzes with exclusive title rewards and adopt a baby jaguar of their own.

Head to Burthorpe and talk to the Conservationist to get started. The Big Cats quiz will start twice hourly – on the hour and at half-past. Answer questions correctly to earn points, which can be used to adopt companions and unlock titles.

Furthermore, the conservationist NPC will also be accepting bond donations until August 17th, with at least £2.85 per bond going directly to the WWF.

Eve Online Raises $100 Grand For Charity

4

Whenever disaster strikes in the world, we can always count on the charitable hand of the gaming community to help those in need. Last month saw Nepal and surrounding regions struck by two massive earthquakes. The devastation left thousands dead and even more injured and without shelter or basic resources. The Eve Online community, as they always do, called on CCP Games to start another charity drive.

And they did. Between May 1st and the 24th, players raised $103 thousand dollars, amounting to slightly less than seven thousand PLEX. The donation includes $500 from ISD volunteers as well as 365 PLEX from an auction. The check for the donation was presented, in large form, to the Icelandic Red Cross.

Once again, here at CCP we are finding it very difficult to choose words that express our gratitude to the EVE Community for the incredible generosity you have all shown over the course of this fundraiser. The Community Team does however have an amazing display on the windows of our office as a constant reminder of the fact that we serve what is, without a doubt, the finest gaming community on Earth.

CCP and the Red Cross would like to thank the EVE community for its generosity.

scapefix

RuneScape’s Well of Goodwill has become a regular force in the fantasy MMO, opening every so often and allowing players to donate their coins, items, and bonds to notable charities. For every ten million gold donated to the well, Jagex donates $2 to the charity flavor of the month with $4.70 for each bond donated. Previous fundraising drives have offered aid to Hart, SpecialEffect, GamesAid, The Internet Watch Foundation, among other charities.

The latest charity run, which saw the Well of Goodwill open for the month of November, has ended and the results are in. More than 70,000 players donated in excess of 512 billion gold worth of coins, items, and bonds to raise a total of $160,158 for charity. The donations will be split to AbleGamersDonategames, and Youngminds.

Over the course of December, players can donate bonds to Oxfam in return for presents.

Gaming For Good Raising $20 Million For Charity

2014-10-17_00003

While other gaming websites are busy declaring the death of the gamer, they’ve managed to ignore Gaming For Good, a charity platform that brings gamers togethers and rewards donations with video games. The way the system works is that you donate to get points, and those points can be spent on game keys. Gaming for Good doesn’t see a single cent of the donations, and neither do the game developers: the keys are all donated, and there are some triple-a titles on that list.

At the time that this article is published, Gaming for Good has raised $19.8 million of the $20 million goal, and that is in less than three days. The charity event ends on the 19th, so if you have some extra clams, it’d be nice if you could throw some their way. Even if you don’t want any games.

Save the Children is working to reduce the number of malnutrition-related deaths among children under five and women in Ethiopia. ENGINE is the main preventive integrated nutrition project that contributes to this Save the Children impact on the life of Ethiopian Children.

Jagex Raises Money Through SpecialEffect Charity

scapefix

Jagex has revealed the results of their 24 hour gaming marathon for SpecialEffect’s Gameblast weekend. The event, which saw staff and members of the community playing RuneScape and Ace of Spades for a full day, resulted in a total of nearly eighty thousand dollars raised for charity. In addition, RuneScape once again opened its Well of Goodwill, where players can donate in-game bonds and goods that are converted into real money to be donated. To top off the event, Jagex also donated 50% of the profits from Ace of Spades sales to SpecialEffect.

Jane Ryan, Head of RuneScape Community Management, expressed the company’s delight in the good will of its community.

“It’s been a crazy 24 hours; we’ve seen staff rise to the occasion and take on all kinds of challenges in the name of charity.  The generosity of our players is both touching and gratifying and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!”

SpecialEffect is a charity dedicated to helping people with disabilities. Find out more about the charity at http://www.specialeffect.org.uk/

Zynga Farms $1 Million For Charity

farmville-holiday-lights_thank-you1

Holiday Lights is an expansion farm for FarmVille introduced a few weeks ago by Zynga. Unlike other expansion farms, Holiday Lights is unique in that 100% of the Zynga’s share on in-game items is directed straight to charity. In a post on the Zynga blog, the company congratulated its players for raising one million dollars collectively for Feeding America, enough to deliver nine million meals to those in need. According to the post, sixty percent of the FarmVille population donated in some capacity.

To date, Zynga has raised $17 million for charities including Toys for Tots, children’s hospital, building schools in Haiti, and more. Thanks a million. Seventeen million, that is.

Turn Your RuneScape Wealth Into Charity Donations

scaperune3

Here at MMO Fallout, we love charities so much that we’ve tried to turn it into a competition. In the case of RuneScape, what better way could there be to encourage donations than to not require any real money at all? With today’s update to RuneScape, Jagex has introduced the Well of Goodwill, where players can take their surplus gold and items and donate them to charity. What would a sick kid do with an iron sword? I have no idea, but that isn’t how the charity works. For every ten million in gold and valued items donated, one real dollar will be donated to charity.

Over the years we’ve privately supported a number of good causes and we thought this time round not only should we try include the community but also focus our efforts towards supporting a number of charities who efficiently and directly support disadvantaged, terminally ill or at-risk young people. While no doubt our list of charities will grow over time, we would like start with a few close to our own heart:

The list of charities include Willow, SpecialEffect, Action For Kids, GamesAid, and Internet Watch Foundation, with more to be added in the future.
