Warhammer: Odyssey Shut Down For Good

Following massive database hack.

If you were hoping that Warhammer: Odyssey would be back online following its server outage, you’re not going to enjoy today’s news story. Last month we reported on Warhammer: Odyssey, the mobile Warhammer MMO, taking its servers down due to a security breach that, among other things, allowed the hacker to start changing character names to “Mr. Putin.” After several weeks of silence, the folks at Virtual Realms unfortunately decided to call it quits and will not be bringing the servers back online.

While the website, Discord, and most social media have been summarily incinerated in the garbage, one can still find the announcement on their Facebook page. Reposted below;

Hello Adventurers,
The past few years have been incredibly challenging for everyone, including the teams here at Virtual Realms, from the unprecedented business complications brought on by the global pandemic through to the recent malicious attacks upon Warhammer: Odyssey. It is with a heavy heart that we must regrettably inform you we have reached the decision not to continue development of Warhammer: Odyssey.
Whilst ideally we would like to leave the servers up for a period to give those of the community who wish to a chance to say farewell, unfortunately the circumstances are such that this is not viable.
We would like to thank those members of the community that have supported Warhammer: Odyssey over the years and extend our gratitude to Games Workshop for their unwavering commitment to this project.
The Virtual Realms Team
