Dungeons & Dragons Online Brings Back Permadeath

Trial by fire.

Dungeons & Dragons Online is one of the latest games to dabble in optional hardcore gaming action. Last August Standing Stone Games unveiled the Hardcore League, a temporary server where death is permanent and rewards are account-wide.

The server was so popular that SSG decided to bring it back once again. Starting today and running through May 12, players can log in and send their characters to their doom on special hardcore servers. Adventurers crafty enough to survive to level 20 will receive a death walkers sash II with the top 100 players immortalized in the Hall of Heroes. Other milestones include:

  • Reaching a Total Favor of 1750 – Bone Devil Skull Helmet
  • Reaching a Total Favor of 5000 – Bone Devil Armored Mount
  • Gaining 10 Reaper Enhancement Points – Death Walkers Cloak II
  • Gaining 20 Reaper Enhancement Points – Dretchling War Veteran

While death may be permanent, death is not…permanent. Thankfully death does not mean your character is deleted, just trapped in the nether for all eternity or until you transfer them to a standard server. You can also delete them, but that’s totally your choice.

DDO’s hardcore server is confined to VIP accounts or those with a season pass.
