Netmarble Posts Higher Sales, Lower Profit For Q1 2020

Total sales up 11.6% in Q1 2020.

Netmarble has posted their Q1 2020 fiscal results and they are quite…mixed. While total sales amounted to $446.7 million, an 11.6% increase over last year, operating profit has fallen 39.8% over the same period to $17.1 million. Net profit meanwhile has increased 35.9% to $48.2 million, so the profit is still there. Hanging around in the back near the tray of snacks and playing with the cat.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross launched worldwide in early March and has done a lot for Netmarble’s profits. Top performing games include MARVEL Contest of Champions (14%), Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross (12%), Lineage 2: Revolution (11%), Blade & Soul Revolution in Korea (8%), and Jam City’s Cookie Jam (5%), with others making up the rest.

Seungwon Lee, co-CEO of Netmarble stated:

We are anticipating significant growth in sales and profitability in our second quarter due to improvement of marketing efficiency and ongoing sales from our new game releases, notably the global launch of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, the launch of Blade & Soul Revolution in Asia, and the debut of A3: STILL ALIVE in Korea.”

North America currently makes up 33% of global revenue with Korea at 29% and the rest of the world also contributing.
