Chronicles of Elyria Backers Find Lawyer For Class Action

Action of the class variety.

The last few months of Chronicles of Elyria can best be summed up as “please don’t sue us.” In March we learned that Soulbound Studios was out of money, laid off all employees, had closed its store, and had ceased development. Co-founder Jeromy Walsh had seemingly attempted to preempt any legal action by surmising that the game might not be cancelled forever. The following month we learned that CoE is totally not cancelled forever, but simply has no money, funding, prospects, or paid developers.

Well it looks like Jeromy Walsh’s best efforts to avoid a class action lawsuit has failed because the official legal action Discord has found a lawyer. The law firm of McCathern has agreed to take up the case and is asking for 35% of potential winnings with an estimated 1-4 years to complete the case. McCathern will be filing at the end of the month and the lawsuit will be aimed not just at Soulbound Studios but at Xsolla, the payment provider who has been accused of stiffing people on refunds.

You know things are bad when an official Discord is launched dedicated to legal action against your company.
