Not Massive: Farmville Is Shutting Down

After eleven years.

Remember when the worst thing on Facebook was the constant notifications from Farmville? Before you had to worry about your racist family member tagging you in a post about race crime statistics? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Farmville, the app that wasted a lot of time and pushed people’s patience to the brink of a nuclear explosion, is shutting down. The game launched way back in the yonder years of 2009 and was pretty huge up until Facebook dropped its exclusivity deal and the market got flooded with better games.

With December 31 on its way and Adobe Flash support officially ending, Farmville too must close its doors. A post on the official Facebook page confirmed the closure.

Farmville runs on Adobe Flash and from December 31st Adobe Flash and games running on it will no longer be supported by browsers and Facebook. That is why we had to take the tough decision of shutting down Farmville.

In typical Farmville fashion players are welcome to continue spending money on the game until servers close. No refunds.
