Game shuts down after eleven years.
The most infamous Facebook game has shut down after eleven years. Launched in 2009 Facebook, Farmville has a special place in most people’s hearts even if that place is the never ending obnoxious wall notifications you received from your co-worker who really needed you to help them plant some corn. For others it was a handy way to pass the time at work while making it look like you were doing your job.
But like any building stationed above a slowly forming sinkhole, Farmville’s ride was bound to end sooner or later. Farmville has a little problem in that it is built on Flash and Flash support ends today, December 31 2020. Microsoft is stripping Flash in an upcoming Windows update and most browsers will stop supporting it tonight regardless.
After 11 fruitful years, the days of ploughing, planting and harvesting with FarmVille are coming to a close. Thank you to all of our @Farmville players around the world! pic.twitter.com/F2BAErqoMv

While Farmville shuts down, other games appear to be thriving. Habbo for instance will shift to Unity.
