Jagex Culls Rare Item Tokens In RuneScape

We’re going three articles deep on RuneScape today.

This week’s RuneScape update has officially culled rare item tokens from the game. The update is part of an initiative to reduce the number of unnecessary currencies in RuneScape and provide players with a much simpler method of navigating the game’s various stores.

Rare item tokens were received rarely from RuneScape’s Treasure Hunter loot box system. Items in the rare token store were very rarely restocked or rotated. This led to players amassing large amounts of currency with nothing to spend them on. With today’s update the items in the rare item store are being moved to the Oddment store. Oddments are another currency earned through Treasure Hunter.

Rare item tokens will be converted to Oddments on a 10:1 ratio, as will the cost of items shuffled over. Limited and current tier rares are not available in the Oddment store at this time but may show up at a future point. Jagex is also sending oddment gifts to players due to unhappy feedback over unfair conversion rates.
