Marvel’s Avengers Makes Leveling Slower

Which apparently is a priority among the content drought.

Being months behind schedule on content additions, Crystal Dynamics will make leveling slower in Marvel’s Avengers. The announcement comes ahead of the March 18 update introducing Clint Barton’s Hawkeye. Crystal Dynamics explains that the decision was made due to a perception that players obtained skill points too fast, making the game confusing and overwhelming. Who was making this complaint? We don’t know.

It has been pointed out quite a bit that many heroes in Marvel’s Avengers suffer from a frustrating leveling process as abilities to make them more viable are locked until later on. As the current rate goes, one can level a character to the level 50 cap in probably two hours or so. The process of leveling gear up to the 150 maximum will take far, far longer per character.

Based on these issues, we’ll be increasing the amount of XP needed to level up, starting from around level 25. This amount will increase the closer you get to level 50 so that it will take longer to reach higher levels, and will only affect character level, not power level. If you already have level 50 characters, which is the current maximum, this won’t affect you. If you have a character who isn’t level 50 and want to speed up their progress, take this time to do so before the update on March 18.

If anything it sounds like Crystal Dynamics is gearing up for a free to play relaunch to save the dwindling population. Either that or they are trying to pad content out further to compensate for the game getting further behind schedule.
