H1Z1 Seemingly Ends New Season Launches

Is it that time of the year already?

It’s been five months since the last H1Z1 article, a perfect time to go back and see what Daybreak Game Company’s entry into the “what could have been” sector of gaming is up to. Now my primary complaint with Daybreak’s prior seasons is that they clearly had no funds to develop content. H1Z1 went several seasons in a row with little more than loot boxes, some of which you still had to pay for.

I don’t expect much out of H1Z1. Scratch that, I expect nothing out of H1Z1. So it doesn’t necessarily surprise me that Daybreak went from not much new content in the season to just no season at all. Season 9 should have ended roughly on January 22 if we go by three months and the timer on H1Z1 currently sits at 0 minutes and 0 seconds. No acknowledgement from Daybreak on the official Twitter and radio silence on the official website. The forums haven’t seen a post since August 2020 from anyone, and the game hasn’t been taken down for maintenance (going by Twitter) in two months.

Daybreak may be owned by Enad 7 but seemingly abandoning release of new seasons without so much as an acknowledgement of the cancellation or statement on the delay of a theoretical season 10 is completely on brand for H1Z1. The fact that all of the other press also forgot H1Z1 existed is on brand as well.

Status update; I downloaded H1Z1 on the PS5 to see if it runs better and the answer is that it does. The stuttering and sound issues in free for all seemed to be gone, as did the crashes I had on PS4. Solo queues are at their lowest ever with 20-25 people, while free for all queues are also at their lowest with 7-10 people. Nothing that should shock the system.

Stay tuned to MMO Fallout for literally the only person who still cares enough to check in on H1Z1, and that includes Daybreak Game Company.
