Bungie Cans Trials of Osiris Again… Again

Destiny 2’s controversial PvP mode shuttered a third week running.

It might be a stretch to say that everyone hates Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2, but probably not so much to say that nobody particularly enjoys Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2. Nobody except liars. Trials of Osiris is Destiny 2’s ultra hardcore PvP mode where power level advantages are enabled and players must go ‘flawless’ in order to obtain rewards. Rewards are available at three, five, and seven victories without a loss. They also receive tokens that can be redeemed for gear but expire at the end of the weekend.

Player engagement with Trials of Osiris is so low that at the end of February a massive match fixing ring was uncovered through simple logistics. The Twitter account for tracking Trials statistics noted on February 28 that nearly half of all flawless PC players hadn’t killed a single person, and 69% had less than five kills. Statistically impossible unless people are throwing matches.

This weekend marks the third week in a row that Bungie has suddenly shut down Trials of Osiris midway due to match fixing. The excuse this week is related to rejoining matches.

Trials Report put out another tweet of statistics showing that match fixing is still rampant in Trials.

Players who already went flawless will have access to the Lighthouse to claim their pinnacle loot, and Trials Tokens can be redeemed with Saint-14 until the weekly reset.
