Funcom Acquires Cabinet Group, Conan IP

Along with a ton of other properties.

Age of Conan players have spent the last few years likely wondering how long the gravy train would last until Funcom lost the Conan IP. Well now you don’t have to worry, as Funcom today announced its acquisition of Cabinet Group as well as all of its IPs. This means that Funcom now owns the rights to Conan, as well as Cabinet’s other properties.

Funcom CEO Rui Casais has high hopes for the new IP rights.

“We are currently overseeing the development of an unannounced game which will combine many of the characters in the Robert E. Howard universe,” said Casais. “And if you combine Funcom’s knowledge of games with Heroic Signatures’ knowledge of the TV/entertainment, publishing, and licensing industries, it makes us perfectly placed to take this venture to the next level. It’s exciting times ahead for us and for fans of the IPs.”

For fans of Cabinet Group’s IPs this hopefully means more releases from lesser known and neglected properties. Cabinet Group is home to numerous franchises including Solomon Kane, Mutant: Year Zero, Conan (of course), Mutant Chronicles.
