Tencent Acquires Minor Stake In Playtonic

Probably investing more than a dime.

Megacorporation Tencent today announced that their fingers are in yet another developer pie. The gigantic publisher now owns a minor stake in Playtonic Games, the folks behind such titles as Yooka-Laylee, A Little Golf Journey, and BPM: Bullets Per Minute. The investment will allow Playtonic complete creative control over their IP while affording the company to build multiple teams as opposed to its current one-team structure.

Founder Gavin Price stated;

“Six years ago we built a cool, exciting rocket ship, set a course we think is right and exciting. We are thrilled that Tencent agrees with that course and has provided some rocket fuel to further the reach of our mission!”

More news on developments as they occur.
