ESL Gaming Now Owned By A Dictator

In case you didn’t think 2022 was going to suck.

ESL Gaming is being purchased by Savvy Gaming Group, a company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The Saudi Public Investment Fund’s job is to invest funds on behalf of the Saudi government, with crown prince Mohammad bin Salman operating as chairman. ESL Gaming and FACEIT are being purchased for a combined $1.5 billion. Savvy Gaming Group is run by CEO Brian Ward who used to work at, where else, Activision.

So when ESL Gaming puts up messages about diversity and inclusion, just remember that they will be owned by a brutal dictatorship that ranks among the worst in the world in terms of human rights.
