We here at MMO Fallout are big fans of the Game Devs of Color Expo held every year. So this PSA goes out to developers or individuals who might have been considering submitting themselves as speakers for the upcoming event, or submitting games to show off. Your time to do so is running very short.
Applications for both roles are due to cut off on April 30. That is five days away from this publishing for those of you allergic to calendars. The application for speaker can be found here, and the application to submit a game can be found here. All speakers receive an honorarium and those who submit applications should expect to hear back starting around mid-May.
All speakers will receive an honorarium based on available funds. Honorariums vary in amount from Microtalks, Panels and Long talks. We are working to make sure this is as equitable as possible. Attending the conference will be free for speakers.
Last year’s GDoC Expo saw $150,000 in grants given to aspiring developers. The expo itself is scheduled online for September 15 through 18 and if trends are anything to go by there will be plenty more speakers and more games to check out.
