Untamed Isles Embezzles Its Funding, Loses It

Rev up those lawsuits.

Turns out Untamed Isles can be tamed with a process as simple as losing the funds they embezzled. Untamed Isles is dead, the Kickstarter MMO that billed itself as a PokeMons style monster catcher funded to the tune of over 800 grand in New Zealand Dollarydoos is on hiatus after the developers admit to embezzling funding to invest in crypto and losing it in the crash.

As announced on Kickstarter;

We leaned into the crypto market and expanded rapidly off the back of the positive interest. When the crash came, we ended up heavily exposed with too short of a runway. The game remains game-first, crypto-second in design, but crypto funds have become, and remain, essential in getting us to the release. Unlike many of the projects that have foundered in the storm, we actually have a great game design that could stand on its own two feet. But until the crypto situation is resolved – and we’re confident it will be at some stage – then we have to hibernate development on this project.

Untamed Isles has no money, and judging by the response on the Kickstarter announcement they certainly won’t be getting crowdfunding support for any other projects going forward. They might want to take what funds they can and invest in a good lawyer.
