Magic 2 Master removed from Kickstarter.
Copyright troll Laniatus LLC just can’t stop shooting themselves in the foot. Laniatus perjured itself this week by filing a fraudulent DMCA takedown against a YouTube critic, but another party has stepped into the ring that appears to have real receipts.
The Magic 2 Master Kickstarter was already on track to fail hard, but that didn’t stop Gameforge from stepping in and shutting it down via legal means. Going to the Kickstarter page now displays the message:
Magic to Master – Free to Play MMORPG is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.
Gameforge sent a copyright takedown request to Kickstarter, alleging in the takedown that Magic 2 Master uses stolen assets from Metin2. In addition, Gameforge notes that legal action is already being taken against several individuals at Laniatus who were previously associated with Gameforge.
The infringing content uses stolen parts of the Metin2 game engine and pretends them to bei their own product. Members of their team have been associated with Gameforge in the past, legal actions against these persons are already on their way. We – Gameforge – are not related to this infringement nor accept illegal activities associated with it.
YouTuber Callum Upton has posted a new video on the takedown. Content warning, it reveals Laniatus as a group of corrupt idiots:
