Players are unhappy.
IdleOn, the Idle MMO is stacking one thing alright; negative reviews. Over the last few days players have left over 550 negative reviews of the game owing in big part to a recent update that some have blasted as introducing blatant pay to win.
Going by its namesake, IdleOn is an idle MMO where players let their characters passively gain experience, farm mobs, and do skills and stuff. The game has been pretty well received up to this point with an 82% mostly positive rating on Steam.
The latest update dropped on Saturday June 17 introducing followers. Each week players can roll for a random untradeable follower, with the option to buy tradeable followers with real money currency Crystals.
This is just step one of the “Companions” feature! Trading will come soon, then Shiny Companions, new Companion Seasons, and more!
The reviewers are not having it, with over 500 negative reviews over the last couple of days. Most of the reviews are slamming the developer for adding in pay to win, gacha mechanics, and FOMO (as the game will rotate companions).
Dev finally lost his mind and added p2w gacha with a NEW premium currency that u cant farm, but hey you get 1 free draw per week, only need to hit that 0.28% that gives a completely game changing bonus before the pets rotate out and a new batch of bonuses comes in. FOMO Gacha with new premium currency, worst update ever
Unsurprisingly many of the negative reviews are from people with thousands if not tens of thousands of hours clocked in to the game. Whether or not the developer will roll back or change some of the pay to win mechanics will have to be seen.
IdleOn hit a peak of nearly 10,000 concurrent users this year.
Dev is also mass banning discord, reditt, steam discussion page, etc, saw someone say they hated the new update and they just got pdrma banned, I got banned when I was in there actively helping people with a quest, I helped about 380 or so over the course of 2 years and just insta banned because I posted an image of the
Game on steam showing it had the gambling tag and was instantly banned, no warning or mute
That’s pretty funny.
