The 18th Annual Dari Awards were held in Los Angeles this week at the LA Korea Center on Wilshire Blvd. With awards presented by the Minister of the South Korean Ministry of Culture, this year’s award for “Business of the Year” went to Pearl Abyss America.
But you already knew that if you read the headline. Pearl Abyss was apparently selected out of recognition for its success in illustrating Korean culture to the global audience, and for making lots of money.
“We’re thrilled our studio has been recognized for its cultural work on Land of the Morning Light,” said Jeonghee “JJ” Jin, CEO of Pearl Abyss America. “This Black Desert expansion weaves Korean myth and folklore into a mysterious narrative that drives the new gameplay, and the positive worldwide reviews we received reflect a gaming audience that’s ready for more!”
The Dari Awards recognize companies that bridge the cultural gap between Korea and the wider world. Especially the United States.
