Shadowbane Is Dead Again

Shutting down May 28.

Shadowbane originally launched way back in ye olden days of 2003, developed by Wolfpack Studios and published by Ubisoft back when they were called Ubi Soft. The game closed down in 2009.

In 2020 the folks at Beijing AmazGame Age Internet Technology Co., Ltd. (fantastic name by the way) announced that they’d be reviving the title and bringing it back to the big screen alongside publisher CHANGYOU.COM HK LIMITED. Another great name.

Well that time has come and gone, and Shadowbane is shutting down yet again. In a post on the official Steam page, the folks at that developer I mentioned earlier announced the upcoming closure.

Since the launch of Shadowbane, it has received the support and loved of a large number of players. Looking back on the days when we fought alongside all the warriors, we sincerely thank you for your support and assistance to Shadowbane! However, due to the business adjustments, we regret to announce that Shadowbane is about to cease operations.

Servers will shut down May 28, 2024. Players have marked the reboot as being a low quality cash grab that locks core elements of the game behind a pay to win cash shop.

In other words we didn’t miss much. For that Shadowbane kick, there’s probably a private server out there somewhere that’s competently run.
