Apex Legends Ends Buying BP With Coin

Spend money, peasants.

Apex Legends is doing its semi-regular reminder of how much contempt Electronic Arts and Respawn have for their customers this week. In a post on the official website, we got new information on changes coming in Apex Legends Season 22. Are the developers addressing longstanding issues with the game? No.

Instead you can look forward to the battle pass being split in half. Now passes run for half the amount of time, contain roughly half of the rewards (60 vs 110), and cost half as much. I’m just kidding, the cost hasn’t changed the same. What this does mean is that the price of the Apex Legends pass has doubled. With the seasons split in two, the same amount of content now runs you $20 as opposed to $9.99.

Also you can’t buy battle passes with Apex Coin anymore, meaning gamers who used the coins from the previous battle pass to buy the next one are SOL and will need to reach into that wallet to continue getting the premium track. Respawn claims that this is in order to reduce the price of Premium+.

Respawn claims that this move is to make the battle pass more “attainable” which sounds like a lie, probably because it is. We can always expect EA to double down on bleeding their customers dry.
