Remember how the whole internet has been speculating for months now that XDefiant was basically dead and would be shut down soon? Well the game is basically dead and it’s going to be shut down soon. After denying rumors that the game was in trouble, Ubisoft today confirmed that the shooter’s servers will sunset in 2025.
Thank you for your incredible dedication and support of XDEFIANT. We regret to inform you that we are initiating the sunset process starting today, December 3rd, 2024. As a result, new downloads, player registrations and purchases will no longer be available. Season 3 will still launch, so stay tuned for more updates to come. The servers will remain active, and the game will be fully playable until June 3rd, 2025.
XDefiant launched on May 21, meaning Ubisoft gave it a whole seven months before deciding to pull the plug. The game has suffered from many issues including bad net code and hit registration that didn’t help plummeting player numbers shortly after launch.
Ultimate founders pack owners will get a full refund and so will players who bought anything within the last month. Maybe Ubisoft can revive The Division Heartland that was cancelled in part for XDefiant.
