New World Rehoming Its Dwindling PC Base

As population collapses following Aeternum’s release.

New World Aeternum released in October and saw New World reach unimaginable heights outside of when the game was really popular. Over 50k players were logging in concurrently for a good week until that count started to dissolve again.

Fast forward six months and several rounds of Amazon’s patented quality control on New World updates, and the game is ready to merge servers. For the second time in two months. With 80% of the peak player base from October gone, they’ve gotta free up some server rack space.

The February server mergers will see 18 servers lowered into the big vat of molten metal Terminator style. The servers include:

  • Taurus/Asterion/Andrometus/Siren (EU) → Aries (EU) –
  • Apus/Phoenix/Sagitta (EU) → Draco (EU)
  • Aaru (EU) → Nysa (EU)
  • Cathaysia (US East) → Hudsonland (US East)
  • Arctica/Kalahari (US East) → Rosa (US East)
  • Kenorland/Cimmeria (US East) → Pangea (US East)
  • Maramma (US East) → Valhalla (US East)
  • Bellatrix/El Nath (US West) → Aquarius (US West)
  • Cursa (SA East) → Alkaid (SA East)
  • Pisces (AP Southeast) → Cerberus (AP Southeast)

Character creation and transfers will be disabled on February 18 on retiring worlds, with wars also cancelled and refunded the same day. On February 25, access to the retired servers will finally be cut off and characters will be automatically transferred to their destinated new homes.
