Path of Exile 2 Slammed By Negative Reviews

Dawn of the Hunt becomes Dawn of the Mixed Rating.

Last week Grinding Gear Games released Dawn of the Hunt, the next big update for Path of Exile 2. In addition to the new Huntress class and a ton of changes to the game, Dawn of the Hunt has also drawn out some ire from the playerbase.

They’re not happy. How not happy? Over 3,000 negative reviews flooding in over the last few days not happy. Player complaints focus around the slow pace of the game, the nerfing of builds, and difficulty that players are comparing to Dark Souls.

In a post on the official Steam page, GGG addresses a few complaints from players. There will be a new skill implemented for those who don’t like parry to generate frenzy charges in the early game.

In order to do this, we are adding a new Skill on the second row of the Spear skills called Cull the Weak. This skill is effectively the same as Killing Palm on the Monk, but for Frenzy charges. If a monster is in Culling Range, using Cull the Weak will charge towards the monster, kill it instantly, and give you a Frenzy charge. This skill should be patched in over the next few days.

Additionally the team isn’t happy with how parry and heavy stun mechanics work presently.

We also want to improve the feeling of Parry more generally. Two issues we have identified are that in some cases it feels like you should Parry monsters but don’t, and that in other cases you get Heavy Stunned in cases where you feel like you shouldn’t. We are currently investigating improvements to these.

Minion damage was overtuned and become far less useful during leveling, and will be tweaked as well. Monster health has been adjusted down by 25% through most of the campaign already to address player complaints of too high health pools.

While they don’t plan on addressing the complaints of maps now being too big by making them smaller, GGG will be adding in more checkpoints throughout the maps.
