LOTRO Shutting Down Its 32 Bit Servers

Thrown in the trash.

Now that Lord of the Rings Online has its sexy new 64-bit servers, the sunsetting of the old servers was probably already set in stone. And now it’s set in the internet, where it can never disappear.

The folks at Standing Stone Games announced this week that the 32-bit game worlds will be shutting down on August 31, 2025. It should be noted that while transfers are available now, you won’t be able to transfer off of those servers for “some time” after they close down.

Please note that we intend to reopen these 32-bit game worlds as “dark worlds” for two years, during which time players will be able to transfer their characters from these worlds to our 64-bit worlds. However, we do not yet have a confirmed timeline for when these transfers will become available, and we are unable to share further details at this time.

So if you’re planning on pulling back one of your characters in the future, you might want to log in now and get your transfers taken care of. Free transfers are running until August 31.
