RuneScape Is Getting More Expensive…Again

Now at AAA prices.

If you weren’t happy about RuneScape bumping up its subscription price multiple times over the last few years, well you’re not going to be happy with today’s news. Jagex this week revealed that they’re doing something about inflation; they’re raising prices.

This is all in the name of support and because Jagex just gutted a good portion of its revenue by stripping out a bunch of profitable microtransactions.

As we look to the future, the exciting roadmaps and announcements we’ve recently shared are the biggest and most ambitious we’ve ever done, and all part of a wider shift to make RuneScape games even better: from enhancing our core systems, to improving our supporting services, and ensuring continued delivery of the kind of updates players value most.

The cost of one month will be $15 USD with a full year running you $131.88. The six month? That’s going away as of today except for users who are grandfathered in. Players will need to keep their subscription going to stay at the old rate.

Check it out.
