Sony Pulls Cyberpunk 2077 From PSN, Offers Refunds

We live in interesting times.

If you’re looking to buy Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, well you waited too long because the game is no longer available. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today that they have pulled the game from the PlayStation Network and will be granting refunds to anyone who asks for it.

This news comes after CD Projekt Red had been offering refunds for disgruntled players dissatisfied by the lack of polish on PS4/XB1 systems resulting in unacceptable performance and regular crashes for many. CDPR had previously attempted to quell the blowback by telling users to contact their retailer for a refund and, if rejected, reach out to them directly. As many retailers don’t accept opened game returns, this turned out to be an issue.

Sony for their part has taken some heat over their strict return policy with users reporting varying luck in receiving a refund. The company has apparently reversed course for unspecified reasons and announced that not only are they offering refunds, but that the game has been pulled from storefronts.

SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store.  SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.

The announcement was made via Twitter as well:

The game is currently available digitally on Xbox as well as PC digital storefronts. A company like Sony unilaterally shifting refund leniency for a game is rare. The company flat out pulling a game from sale is even rarer.
