Free Stuff Plz Month #1: Station Cash

planetside2image2

Free Stuff Plz is off to a big start with the reveal of the first month’s contest: Sony Station Cash. Since Sony has such a large library of MMOs all tied to a single cash system, we figured why keep it to just one title? Between now and the end of July 2013, take a screenshot in any one of Sony Online Entertainment’s games and submit it to freestuff[at]mmofallout[dot]com. There are no specific requirements as to the screenshot itself, so get crafty. Something dark, thoughtful, goofy, romantic, etc, it is your choice.

Capture and submit your best screenshot from Everquest, Everquest II, Free Realms, Clone Wars, Planetside, Planetside 2, DC Universe, Dragon’s Prophet, or Vanguard.

  • The contest will run from June 19th, 2013 through July 31st, 2013
  • It must be YOUR screenshot.
  • Only one attempt per email, please.
  • The prize is given as Station Cash. If your account does not use Station Cash (IE: Prosieben.Sat users), you will not be able to claim the prize.
  • You must be 13 or older to enter.

Grand Prize:

  • $45 Station Cash

Runner Up:

  • $15 Station Cash

Sony Will No Longer Sell Expansions For Station Cash.

Two months ago, Sony Online Entertainment incited a backlash from the community by removing the ability to purchase subscriptions with Station Cash without notice. In learning from their past PR mistake, Sony has offered players prior notice before their next change. Beginning Monday August 27th, it will no longer be possible to purchase expansion packs on Everquest I & II or DLC packs on DC Universe with Station Cash. For the next day or so (until early morning August 13th), players will be able to purchase expansion packs at 50% off.

Unfortunately, the cause of this change in marketing is due to the substantial cost in content development clashing with Sony’s desire to continue running double and triple Station Cash promotions, as well as free Station Cash for subscribers. The two deals combined into an unsustainable, low level of income.

Double Station Cash, December 20th Only

On the 8th day of Christmas, my Sony gave to me: Double Station Cash. So you missed the triple Station Cash deal from the seventeenth and still want to get a good deal this month on fake money. Well you are in luck, because all day today* any purchase that you make either through Station.com or by redeeming a Station cash card (as seen above) will net you double the purchase value. Note that this does not include purchases made by mobile/SMS methods.

Double Station Cash is just another one of Sony’s daily deals in the twelve days of Christmas.

*Today means until midnight Pacific Standard Time

Sony’s “Back To School” Sale: Double Station Cash

Sony’s “Back to School Bonanza” sale strikes me as odd, given spending more on MMOs isn’t even on my list of priorities once I go back to school in September. Either way, put down your Ramen and tell your homework exactly where to shove itself, because between September 2nd and 5th, Sony is holding a double Station cash event. You can redeem a cash card on the above dates and receive twice as much cash.

Check it out here. Certain games will be having specials during the above period including cash shop sales and double experience.

Redeem $15 Station Points, Get $10 Free

Who could say no to free money? I can, but then again, I’m not willing to buy five packages of cereal at three dollars apiece in order to save two dollars with the coupon that printed out for me at Target. That’s just me, I won’t judge the people who change their whole diet on the grounds of what comes in the coupon booklet each month. That being said, I do enjoy a real deal when it comes my way.

If you subscribe to any Station games via credit card, the time card just got a little more appetizing. Purchase a fifteen dollar Station cash card, and redeem it by the 21st, you will receive ten dollars extra. On the other side, you can use the fifteen dollar card towards a subscription, so a player could extend their subscription and still receive the 1,000 station points.

Station Cash cards are not available in all areas and countries, and this does not apply to online purchases.
