Early Access Fraudsters: Win That War Still On Sale, Abandoned In 2017

Developer no longer in business.

Today’s Steam Early Access checkup focuses on Win That War, a title that as of today would have been in early access for three years. It would have been, except for the fact that developer Insane Unity shuttered back in 2017 and nobody has bothered to remove the game from sale.

Win That War describes itself as:

Win That War! is a massive scale real-time strategy game, putting thousands of players at the heart of a single campaign of fierce galactic conquest. Discover new planets. Develop your arsenal. Strive to be the best to extend the domination of your corporation.”

In doing my research, I quickly came upon a post from August 2017 from a developer noting that the sales could not keep everyone employed and Insane Unity couldn’t find a publisher to help finish the title.

Hi ervery one,

I start this discussion to inform you that InsaneUnity closed 2 months ago. I was thinking that one of the creators of the studio will post something about but obviously not.

The sales were not enough to keep every one and finally we did not find a publisher to help us to finish the game.

I am not sure of the future of WinThatWar! for now but I really would like to inform the community that there is no studio behind the game.

Thanks for all your feedbacks during these last months.

The front page of the Steam store includes a following announcement from 2018 that the game had been purchased by a new owner. One not so fluent in the English language.

Announce: on 24th of September 2018 Win That War! game was purchased by Bidaj gaming studio and developing of this game finally continues after 1 year! Stay tuned and thanks for your support and patience. We will do our best to bring this game out as soon as possible.

Bidaj Gaming Studio arguably exists, although I can’t find any evidence that the company is active. There isn’t much to find on the developer, outside of a deeply failed Kickstarter attempt years back for a game called Brawl of Cards. Otherwise they don’t seem to have any social media presence outside of a Youtube account that hasn’t seen attention in three years.

In over a year and a half since posting this announcement, Bidaj has done jack squat with Win That War. I’m not sure how well the “keep it up” tactic is working, since the game has not exceeded two peak players since September 2017 and Steam’s generous refund policy should allow anyone who accidentally falls into this trap to get right back out again.

Don’t buy Win That War.
