Number of games earning $10k in first two weeks increases.
Valve occasionally likes to talk about its Steam platform and the success that various developers find on it. While Steam has been inundated with thousands of new titles releasing every year, the good news is that there has been a continued increase in the number of games achieving “success” on the platform.
By success, Valve means games earning $10,000 within the first two weeks, and the statistics show that number is in fact increasing.
“As the graph shows, the number of games meeting this success measure has increased pretty consistently over time, with an 18% increase in 2019 compared to 2018. That increase wasn’t just due to a larger number of games on the platform – the proportion of games meeting success increased by 11% in 2019.”
The increase in successful games has only strengthened Valve’s decision to launch Steam Direct allowing virtually anyone to publish their games on the platform, as their metrics show that going by the previous trend of manually approving games that a large portion of the successful games would have never made it on in the first place.

So who knows, maybe things are looking up for Steam developers across the board. For the entire blog post, check out the link below.
