Just assume all updates on hold until further notice.
It’s been nearly three weeks since RuneScape suffered a major outage that knocked out login servers for the day and broke access for a large number of accounts. While a sizable (at least 1%) of the RuneScape community remains locked out of their accounts, Jagex has been working to restore access and get those accounts back into working order. The process has been slow and one of the casualties has been the game’s weekly content updates.
Well that cutback hasn’t stopped. Originally slated to return this week, Jagex announced that the next content update would be considered delayed until further notice while the team works on restoring accounts.
We don’t have all the answers in the here and now – we just changed plans after all! – but we will at least hold the release of Rex Matriarchs until further notice. Thanks for all your passionate responses and we’ll talk about this in more detail next week.
Players whose accounts are affected by the outage should expect extensions on things like membership, Yak Track, and more.
