Updated shipping times will reflect this.
The ongoing component shortage sucks, to be sure, and it doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. The latest victim of the shortage is none other than the Steam Deck. In an dev blog posted on the official website today, Valve announced that the handheld PC won’t be shipping to consumers until February 2022 at the earliest. Granted this is a new estimated date, and there’s always the possibility of things getting pushed back further.
Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Reservation date estimates will be updated shortly after this announcement.
The good news is that people waiting for the Steam deck haven’t put down more than a few bucks on their reservations at this point. The bad news is those hoping to get their units in time for the family Fruitcake Toss Day celebrations will need to wait until next year to bring it along.
