Fortnite is back via cloud gaming.
Fortnite is officially back on iOS devices, although Apple probably doesn’t want you to know about it. While Apple refuses to allow Epic’s Fortnite back on its official stores, Epic this week completely bypassed the ban by partnering with a very interesting ally. Who else, but Microsoft.
Starting this week, Fortnite is officially available for free on iOS devices via Xbox Cloud Gaming, with no subscription required to play (although you do need an Xbox account). Microsoft is presumably eager to spite Apple after the company also rejected an official Xbox Game Pass app on the app store. Rather than sitting back and accepting defeat, Microsoft developed a web app version that would work through browsers and avoid not just Apple’s app store terms but would also deny them a cut of the revenue share they would receive had Game Pass been an approved app.
