And be let to die.
DeathVerse: Let It Die is a game you’ve probably never heard of before this week. One of the seemingly infinite stream of low-publicity free-to-play battle royale games to come out over the last few years, DeathVerse is a hack and slash title released by Supertrick Games, the developers behind…DeathVerse: Let It Die.
A freshman developer releasing a title in an oversaturated market that absolutely depends on players to be the content? What could possibly go wrong! Apparently everything, as DeathVerse is hitting the “just kidding” button on its release not even six months out and going back into re-development. After they’ve already started monetizing it.
The big problem comes down to various in-game issues the developer has been unable to fix.
There is no doubt that we experienced some challenges since the launch of our game, particularly with regards to in-game matchmaking and lag. We deeply apologize for these issues that may have caused an inconvenience to our players. While we have tried various solutions to some degree of success, we have not been able to resolve the underlying problems. As a result, the development and operations teams have made the decision to temporarily suspend the game’s services while we redevelop DEATHVERSE: LET IT DIE. This was a difficult decision for us to make. However, we believe that re-releasing the game with significant improvements will allow it to be enjoyed by a wider audience as well as our current players.
Services will be suspended as of July 18, 2023 and the game will go offline for an undisclosed amount of time. Despite announcing the closure, DeathVerse still expects to release season 2 content as well as a partial season 3 release. MMO Fallout recommends against investing in a game that announced its closure within a fiscal quarter of launch.
DeathVerse launched on October 5, 2022 to a peak concurrent base on Steam of 1,360 people. Within a month that number had plummeted over 90% with the game barely able to break 100 concurrent players. Will the game actually relaunch? Your guess is as good as ours.
Thank God for convenient game titles.
