Knockout City To Close, Private Servers Coming

So it’s not all bad.

Unlike our numerous closure notices this week, this story has some positivity to it. Knockout City is shutting its doors, one of multiple battle royale games to announce its closure this week. Following season 9 on June 6, 2023, the servers will close for their final time. And while the game lasted a solid two years, this thankfully won’t be the last we are able to play.

If you want to play that is. The announcement notes that players will be able to get their hands on standalone private servers once the official ones go offline. Even better, it seems like there will be a way to simply use the unlockable cosmetics that have been added to the game over time, as those won’t transfer over from your account.

Best of all, we’ll be releasing a standalone player-hosted version of the game for Windows PCs. Even after the official servers go offline, Knockout City can continue to be played for eternity by fans that want to host their own servers! We’ll have more details about all of the events and this final version of the game soon, so be sure to stay tuned over the weeks ahead.

Check out the very detailed and rather heartfelt announcement by game director Jeremy Russo.
