Steam: Counterfeit Last Epoch/Escape From Tarkov Appear…Again

And Valve continues to do nothing of substance about impersonation.

Steam is hosting scams again because Valve refuses to put in the most basic of oversight into their systems. I was perusing the Steam app changes tonight when a new game caught my eye; Last Epoch. Only Last Epoch is already on Steam. It’s here, and it costs $35. What’s the deal with this version that costs $60?

It’s fake. It’s not actually being sold by Eleventh Hour Games.

Last Epoch up until not too long ago was a game called Furious Rage, a side-scrolling title that looks like this and was developed by Fest Studio. Or Raverman. Or Whitehole Games. They’ve changed names a lot.

But now the game is straight up stealing screenshots and assets from Last Epoch, a real game that has been selling gangbusters on Steam. And the kicker? These scam artists are selling it for $60, selling it at a higher cost than the game itself.

Or maybe this is the last ditch effort by some loser developers who never got success in sales to gain attention on the internet in the form of “I can’t believe Valve still allows this to happen” articles.

And then there’s Escape From Tarkov.

Escape From Tarkov isn’t on Steam period. This game up until just recently was a car game called Extreme Riding by the same developer as the fake Last Epoch. It looked like this.

This isn’t the first time a fake Escape From Tarkov has appeared on Steam.

And then there’s Helldivers 2, which popped up while I was writing this article.

And a fake Palworld. Also just showed up while I was writing this article about only two games.

Both of these were previously games published under Bside Studio, which given the timing is likely just another shell name for Fest Studio.

Update: Since publishing this article there is now a fake Counter Strike 2 Prime Status listing.
