“No Man’s Sky was a mistake.” It’s the kind of misattributed quote you expect to see photoshopped onto a Hello Games tweet. But what happens when the message is verifiably from the official Hello Games Twitter account? Well it must have been hacked, you say, and Sean Murray will be right around to let us know that the whole ordeal is just a poorly protected account.

Alright, now what do you do when Sean Murray writes in to let you know that the tweet was indeed authentic? Well that exact story happened today, someone used the Hello Games Twitter account to write “No Man’s Sky was a mistake” and then followed it up by writing to Polygon under Sean Murray’s email address.

Murray has since pointed to an insecure LinkedIn account, however Mashable is reporting that the culprit is a disgruntled employee.

LinkedIn was hacked earlier this year, leading to speculation that Murray or another employee had committed the terrible no-no of sharing passwords between accounts.

Perfect World Entertainment Claims Lockboxes Preview As Bug

Neverwinter_PS4_03

Perfect World Entertainment has dug itself into a controversy this week as the company made the announcement that loot previews are being removed from lockboxes. According to a post on the main website, although this feature has been in the game for a long time, it is evidently a bug. As such, the “bug” is being removed.

Since this bug has been live for a long time and we believe that some players may have come to rely on this bug, we are providing advance notice of the change.

Unsurprisingly, players are responding angrily on the forums with players calling fowl on Perfect World’s attempt to explain away a confirmation screen as an unintended function.

Kakao Permanently Bans Bug Abusers

BDO10

Forum moderators over at Black Desert Online are no doubt getting ready for the barrage of “I was banned for nothing” threads as Kakao has permanently banned a number of accounts over an incident that occurred this week. A number of players figured out an exploit involving the shovel item and empty bottles, resulting in the use of both items being temporarily disabled while the team figured out how to fix the exploit.

The use of exploits to gain an unfair advantage over other Players is an egregious violation of our Terms of Use. As such these Users have been permanently removed from the game. We wish to make our stance clear regarding this type of behavior; it will not be tolerated.

Evolved Into Abandonware: Turtle Rock Ends Development of Evolve

ss_60bcdaec92fa46743869e1b33415076a5b5a0b18.1920x1080

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Evolve ever since its Stage 2 update to free to play went into beta on PC, hoping that it would revitalize the community and bring new life into a game that hit too many hurdles (many it placed itself) during development. It didn’t, while Evolve ballooned up to over 51 thousand players in July, as of the past 30 days less than 10% of those remain. With the free to play update on PC complete and the console versions still up in the air, Turtle Rock Studios announced today that their handling of the game has come to an end.

“Today, Turtle Rock finishes development on the project and begins to transition day-to-day server operation to 2K, as we take the operation of the Evolve franchise fully in-house.”

According to Community Manager “Shaners,” the decision to end the contract was made by 2K Games pulling the license. Whether or not Evolve Stage 2, the free to play transition, will come to consoles is unknown, however Turtle Rock won’t be heading it. There are no plans to continue creating content for Evolve.
