Eldevin Introduces Desktop Client

EldevinVilkarax

Hunted Cow Studios has released the latest patch for Eldevin, bringing with it a multitude of updates including a downloadable desktop client. Dubbed Patch 1.16, Eldevin branches out of its browser-based roots and is now available in downloadable form. The client is compatible with Windows (32 and 64 bit), MacOSX, and Linux.

While the downloadable client does not currently support an announced hardware rendering engine, the goal is to have the feature implemented within the next few weeks. The hardware rendering engine will allow Eldevin to run with better graphics, at a higher framerate, and also more optimized. Check out Eldevin at the official website.

Sony Online Entertainment Advises Reinstalling Wizardry Online

wizardry-online

Wizardry Online is live and kicking. The hardcore free to play MMO launched today under Sony Online Entertainment, who issued a news piece advising players who participated in beta. For the sake of reducing complications between the beta client and the live client, SOE has advised that players uninstall any beta versions before launching the game.

With Wizardry Online’s Official Launch it’s time for a fresh install. Because the Launch version of Wizardry Online has a number of minor differences in the server environment, a clean install will provide you with the best possible experience of Wizardry Online and avoid technical issues.

Those of you not willing to install a fresh copy of Wizardry will be happy to know that this is simply a precautionary move. You may encounter some bugs that wouldn’t exist on a fresh copy, but the game should work alright.

Darkfall Suspends Client Cost

Darkfall 2.0 may still be far off in the distance, but Aventurine is still working hard to bring new players into the community. In a few weeks, players will be able to get into Darkfall for the easy price of $14.99. Similar to Warhammer Online a couple years back, Aventurine is dropping the client cost in favor of simply paying for the subscription once the trial runs out.

This promotion comes with both purchasing and game play relayed changes and it will last until the launch of Darkfall 2.0. We will be removing the client purchase fee and to start playing Darkfall you will only need to pay the monthly fee. We are also preparing something that has to do with skill gains.

More in a few weeks.

Try LOTRO and DDO In Your Browsers With Gaikai

Well, don’t get your hopes up. Turbine today announced Gaikai, allowing players to trial Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online without having to download either game’s client. Playable through your browser, the trial is heavily limited: One hour, due to technical issues that prevent any repeat or extended play at this time.

Currently, the LOTRO trial on Gaikai will allow you to play for up to one full hour. For most players, this will allow you to create your character and complete the starting area for your race. At the end of the trial, you will be logged out from the game and your character and progress will be stored on our servers. You will then be provided with links to download the game client to continue your adventure.

You can find the entire FAQ at the link below, this promotion (for now at least) is only an incentive to give the game a try.
