Dark Eclipse Launches New Heroes, Free Player Bonuses

Playstation VR’s first MOBA Dark Eclipse has launched a massive content update featuring three new characters and four winter skins. In addition to these updates, Dark Eclipse has also received additional tutorials to get players better acquainted with the controls and strategic elements.

  • Owen – A Leader that can channel his Energy Boost ability to muster strength and
    passively increase his movement speed before unleashing a deadly attack;
  • Sosei – A support Dominator that can sustain lengthy combat and swing the tide of
    battle by reviving fallen Leaders and healing soldiers, knocking back nearby enemy units
    in the process;
  • Jysook – An assassin Dominator with explosive abilities who can lay bomb traps around
    the battlefield and self-destruct to secure crucial kills.

Players who log in to Dark Eclipse will be able to receive daily rewards including eclipse points, player icons, and a leader and hand skin. Today’s update introduces holiday yeti hand skins as well as winter skins for Veronika, Wuntasto, and Jysook.

Dark Eclipse is free to play on Playstation 4 for PSVR and can be found at the official Playstation store.

Dark Eclipse Release V2.0, Official Ranked Mode

Dark Eclipse has been given a major boost this week in the form of version 2.0. The first ever MOBA for Playstation VR just became more competitive as the update introduces ranked mode with a global leaderboard and three new playable characters.

“Our passionate community already knows there’s still nothing else quite like DARK ECLIPSE in VR right now, and we want to continue providing tools like Ranked Mode to keep our VR MOBA as fresh as possible,” said Shohei Sakakibara, Producer and Project Leader at SUNSOFT. “As MOBAs are an inherently competitive genre, the focus of this major update is to further foster and enhance competition in DARK ECLIPSE by allowing players to see how they stack up against other dedicated fans with our global leaderboard.”

Characters include Destrophe, a tank, Dosmelda the assassin, and Zahina the carry hero. Dark Eclipse is free to play on the Playstation 4 and requires the VR headset to play.

Dark Eclipse Launches On PS4: First VR Moba Game

Dark Eclipse, the first PS VR MOBA title, launches today in North America and Europe from SUNSOFT as a free download on the Playstation store. Developer is looking to shake up the genre by pitting two players against one another in head-to-head matches, each player controlling a team of three leaders, each with unique skills and abilities, along with the power to recruit soldiers who level up during the match. The ultimate goal, as usual with the genre, is to conquer your enemy’s base.

“We created DARK ECLIPSE to capture the MOBA genre’s competitive magic, while restructuring many of its core elements to take advantage of VR’s unique capabilities,” said Shohei Sakakibara, Producer and Project Leader at SUNSOFT. “We’re dedicated to fostering an active community and making DARK ECLIPSE VR’s first competitive gaming phenomenon with a legitimate esports fanbase.”

Leaders can be purchased with in-game currency or through the Playstation Store starter packs. The base game is available for free on the Playstation Store.

PSVR MOBA Dark Eclipse Launches Sept 25

Dark Eclipse, the first ever MOBA for Playstation VR, has been announced to launch on the platform on September 25. The title comes to us from Japanese developer SUNSOFT, and is a one-on-one battle where players pick a team of three leaders and supporting soldiers.

“With 40-years in the business, we’ve seen many gaming trends come and go, but few have been as exhilarating as VR’s expansion and mainstream acceptance,” said Shohei Sakakibara, Producer and Project Leader at SUNSOFT. “Everyone at SUNSOFT is enamored with this type of quick, strategic, multiplayer gameplay, so we brought our passion for the genre and combined the best characteristics of VR, MOBAs and RTS games into DARK ECLIPSE, a game that’s both familiar and eye-catchingly innovative.”

Dark Eclipse will be free to play on launch. SUNSOFT plans for free updates including new heroes as the game progresses.
