Summertime is in full swing, and that means plenty of holiday events from your favorite MMOs. This week marks the start of Neverwinter’s Summer Festival, a year event that begins July 9th and goes all the way to the 30th. Players are encouraged to participate in events that run throughout the day including troll hunting, farm animal hauling, and collecting flowers. Alongside the festivities is a special skill only available during the summer month.

Rewards for the event include exclusive foods, mounts, cosmetic equipment, and more. Players of the Sword Coast Adventures game will be happy to see an exclusive non-combat quest show up for the duration of the event.

Players on Xbox will not have access to the event until later this Summer, with more details to come.

Perfect World Apologizes For Extended Maintenance

champs

Perfect World Entertainment is apologizing for recent troubles that kept servers down for an extended period of time this week. Extended maintenance on Tuesday and Thursday was meant to allow new hardware to integrate into the system and fix other problems, but the process took longer than expected and carried issues of its own. To compensate players, PWE is offering double experience and questionite in Champions Online until Tuesday.

In addition, the 15% charge bonus for Zen will be extended another day.

We’d like to apologize for the extremely long emergency downtime you may have experienced today. We’ve been having some problems with our network hardware that’s been causing issues, and we’ve been wanting to finally replace it with new hardware for a while now. The extended maintenance on Tuesday and Thursday was part of the new hardware swap, but the reintegration took a bit longer than expected. The good news is the update leaves all our Cryptic games in much better shape!

Perfect World Entertainment Is Going Private

dw_capstone_08

Perfect World Entertainment has announced that it is going private. In an announcement posted to investors earlier this week, Perfect World will merge with parent company Perfect Peony Holding Company Limited, a limited liability corporation located in the Cayman Islands and owned by Mr. Michael Yufeng Chi. The acquisition will take place to the tune of $900 million bankrolled by China Merchants Bank and Wing Lung Bank.

Shareholders will be bought out at the tune of $4.04 for ordinary shares, $20.20 for American Depository Shares, and no payment for shares held by the parent company or any of its subsidiaries. The price marks a 28% increase over PWE’s closing price at the date that privatization was originally announced (December 31, 2014).

All of this, of course, is still subject to a majority vote at the next shareholder meeting.

PWE Acknowledges Elemental Evil Faults, Vows To Fix Them

dw_capstone_08

Neverwinter has a new lead designer, one Scott Shicoff, previously content lead on Star Trek Online and creator of the Sword Coast Adventures. As part of his new duties, Shicoff is looking at Neverwinter’s latest update, Module 6, to see what hasn’t quite worked out.

In the coming weeks and months, our team will use this to shift Neverwinter from where it is now into what we feel is a far better place. Most of our goals are to make the game better by improving the aspects noted below, while others will bring the game closer to matching the growth of our players and our original vision for Neverwinter.

The team will be performing surgery on multiple areas of Neverwinter from invocation, xp rewards, dungeons removed, and more. The first change, set for release in the next update, is to bring experience rewards for campaign areas to a more consistent level.

We are only reducing XP given by repeatable quests in the Tyranny campaign areas. Other quests are unaffected. I know this isn’t an ideal scenario, but to help compensate for this change we will be running our double XP event for an entire week, starting Thursday, April 23 and ending Thursday, April 30.

With the Elemental Evil module just weeks away, Perfect World Entertainment is busy getting players prepared for upcoming changes. With the new level cap comes better gear, more powerful artifacts, and higher quality refinement items.

Elemental Evil will also usher in the change from Gear Score to Item Level. Item Level will be the new system on which all gear is rated. Entrance to dungeons will also be determined by the combined item level of their gear. Item Level’s main function is to give players an idea of how strong a particular item is at a glance.

You can find out more details at the link below. Profession packs for Neverwinter are on sale until March 30th.
