Perfect World Wallet Shutdown Imminent

Perfect World Entertainment has issued a news update reminding players that the Perfect World Wallet system will shut down on Tuesday March 17th. Anyone with Zen still in their wallet will have it automatically transfer over to the new Arc wallet.

The migration will take a couple of days and won’t affect your ability to access Arc or any of our games. For any users who still use the Wallet system, never fear, the handy Charge system will be your go-to place to purchase any in-game currency. The Charge system is extremely similar to the Wallet system where you choose a game from the list, the server and method of payment.

Anyone already using the arc wallet will not be affected.

Perfect World Q3 2014 Finances

neverwinter_scourge_warlock_071414_3_wm

Perfect World International has released their third quarter finances for 2014, and the results are bound to be interesting. For the quarter, the developer/publisher reported a 5% increase in revenue to $158.7 million USD, although gross profit decreased slightly from the same time last quarter, and the company posted an operating loss of $3.8 million. Mr. Robert Xiao, Perfect World CEO, attributed revenue growth to the strong performance of DOTA2 which the company publishes in China, as well as Forsaken World and CrossGate Mobile. The blame for the quarterly losses, however, is being pointed at the U.S subsidiary.

In view of U.S. subsidiary’s recent performance and near-term business outlook that are below our expectations, we recognized acquisition-related impairments in this quarter. However, we are still confident in the long-term prospects of our U.S. subsidiary given its strong R&D and operational capabilities as well as promising pipeline.

Xiao expressed hope in the US subsidiary’s long term prospects, noting its “promising pipeline” as well as strong R&D and operational capabilities.

Perfect World Entertainment has posted their second quarter income for 2014 and the results are looking pretty good. For the second quarter, total revenues amounted to $149.6 million USD, an increase by about 4% over last quarter. Gross profit similarly increased by a small margin to $109.4 million with operating profit decreased nearly 30% to $20.7 million. CEO Robert Xiao attributed much of the increase in revenue to the success of client-based games like Swordsman Online and the publishing of Dota 2 in China.

Expenses rose in the second quarter due to an increase in sales and marketing as well as research and development. For the next quarter, Perfect World Entertainment expects an increase in revenue between 3-8%.
